Outrigger (float) for canoe

Connecting one-side float to ordinary canoe makes the very nice properities boat, especially usefull on lakes, graeter rivers or open waters. The boat becomes very stable and You can spinning or fishing in a standing position. Or use small sail without uncomfortable ballasting and capsize risk.

Outrigger canoe behave great itselve. It is very stable, while nautical qualities and manoeuvrability changes very little. The simplest float (outrigger) can be made the stitch&glue way of 1 plate (250x125cm) of 4 mm thick plywood. It must be equiped with small watertight inspection hatch ("HOLT") and 2 hardwood bars to connect to the akas (rods). Akas can be made of good quality bamboo rods (length 2,5 m; diameter 70 mm). Fastenings can be simply made with ropes.

FREE PLANS
Here You have plans of simple float, 410 cm length. It was designed to be base for basic platform-catamaran (together with other one), propelled with small outboard. It is relatively large so must be resized to about 250 - 300 cm, to be propper for canoes
Plans are 2 sheet A2 size in pdf format. It is essential to print them on a scale of 1:1 with no scaling. That is in order to keep the propper dimensions on a scale of 1:10.
